And the Winner is… Customized Entertainment Awards
Everyone loves a winner – whether it is The Oscars, The Joey Awards, The Junos, or The Canadian Radio Music Awards; the list is endless. Right now, there are a number of great music awards in full gear and it is exciting to see who will walk home with the win.
It is always a thrill to see one of our awards on the television, tweeted, or in the newspaper and think about how much creativity and work went into designing that custom Lucite award. The excitement never gets old!
Creating Unique Custom Entertainment Awards
A well designed, planned and executed award production is an amazing process to be a part of. The process allows us the chance to create multiple custom Lucite designs, each unique and reflective of the entertainment industry as a whole but distinctive to the brand. The process allow us to work with the entertainment awards organization to design an iconic and timeless piece or re-envision an updated version of a classic award for the future while still staying true to the consistency of their past. Lucite allows this versatility and challenges not only us, but the organization and their designers to evolve and grow while presenting the brand in a creative manner.
We have made the award for Canadian Music Week Award production for many years, but they decided to change the design and allowed us the honour of working with them to redesign the new custom Lucite award. Using Lucite is a great medium and an easy way to create a unique piece without compromising on quality.
Another great music award that we worked closely with the client’s design team for a total redesign was the Western Canadian Music Awards, a huge supporter of the growing music scene in western Canada. We worked with them in creating their awards for almost ten years and they are huge fans of Lucite because of its versatility, the ability to embed and the ability to colour match to their logo. In the latest redesign, WCMA received much positive feedback from their recipients.
Our glamorous moment in March is our Shorts awards; our clapboards which are presented close to the Oscars in Beverly Hills for Best Live Action/Animation/Documentary. It is wonderful to play a small part of a huge event. Another exciting and glamorous gala and awards show is the Anokhi awards that celebrate and honour some of the world’s renowned figures in the global South Asian community.
The Canadian equivalent is the TIFF Canada Goose custom award we create for the Best Canadian Director. It is always wonderful to be a part of the TIFF experience. The TIFF award was so well-received that, in our own industry, we won an award for the manufacturing techniques that went into producing this piece!
Another of the favourite awards we produce are the Business Book Awards. We designed this for PwC who sponsor the award. We created the award to look like a book and each yearly winner has their book cover embed inside. We use a similar technique when producing iKids Awards which celebrates the market’s best digital media products and platforms for kids.
One of the beautiful and exceptional qualities about these pieces is that you can embed items into the Lucite awards. This allows you to create a design that can be used consistently to honour the theme of the award event, but when it comes to particular categories, it gives you some creative room to personalize the award a little further.
An example of this might be The Joey Awards which celebrates young Canadian performers. This is a relatively new entertainment award on the scene, so to really elevate their status in the industry, they might come up with a specific custom award for their event that represented their brand as a starting point. To further personalize the award for the different categories (voice over, feature film, short film, television, etc.), a unique item that represents that specific medium could be embeded within the Lucite award to make it more unique and special.
